Note to bloggers: if you are looking for an easy way to generate some quick traffic, just put the words "Andre Carson" somewhere in your blog. I'm getting an average of ten hits per day from google or yahoo! searches on "Andre Carson". Hmm...
I've mentioned before that I've long believed that Julia Carson's grand plan was to have her grandson replace her, and take up her mantle as champion of Indianapolis (yes, that title is sarcastic). I had lunch with a good friend last Friday and I mentioned that to him, and he remained extremely skeptical.
Well, in the debris of the Patrice Abdullah scandal comes word that local Defeatocrats are strongly considering naming Mr. Carson to replace him in that seat. When the time comes to replace Grandma on the ballot, the problem of not having any political experience is thus solved. In fact, are we totally sure that The Carson Machine isn't somehow behind this action to remove Abdullah?
Look, it's no secret that local Defeatocrats are getting concerned about the potential replacements for Grandma Julia. While many seem to think Indianapolis based State Reps Carolene Mays and Greg Porter are first in line, the reality is that for Carson, blood is much thicker than water. Say what you will about her, but her loyalty to family (including rapist nephews) is stronger than anything, and in a Clintonesque manner, she is obsessed with her own legacy.
What a great legacy (in her mind) than to have her own Grandson succeed her. And be afraid, Republicans. He is extremely capable and has been well schooled by Grandma. Once in, he will have that seat for life, much like Dick Lugar.
This is one test (of many) for new County GOP Chair Tom John as far as what does he do about Andre Carson? Is he strategic enough to ensure young Mr. Carson doesn't begin a political career now? Or, does he take the typical GOP Chair position and simply bury his head in the sand?
Your move, Mr. John.
